A Case of Hindquarter Amputation


Abstract
The hindquarter amputation was performed on a case of skin cancer in right thigh, which showed inguinal metastasis. The patient, 38 years old male, was admitted with complaints of limping and pain due to the egg-sized tumor mass on the right inner aspect of the thigh. There was no bony involvement on X-ray, but the swollen right inguinal lymphnodes were confirmed to be metastatic squamous carcinoma by the biopsy.
Under general anesthesia right pelvis with right lower extremity was, resected after the ligation of A.&V. ilica communis and with the separation of symphsis pubis and right sacroiliac joint. The convalescence was smooth and the patient was up on crutches, four weeks after operation.
